Stately Stanley, by Douglas Walker

Stately Stanley

Dimensions: Approx. 7 ft. H x 4 ft. W
Materials: Nonferrous metals, glass beads, recycled objects.
This sculpture is my first venture into the human form. Imagine Stanley as a fun loving and somewhat bizarre inn keeper, who is waiting to fulfill the every need of his guests. With an owl family in one hand and a lonely cat in the other, Stanley makes his way through the garden, muttering to himself about the price of cumquats in Brazil.

Douglas Walker is a self taught Canadian sculptor based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Working with a variety of recycled objects, Douglas creates sculptures often described as whimsical and Goldberg-like. Douglas is best known for turning discarded musical instruments, such as tubas and trombones, into water features. By melding and blending common cast-off objects he has proven himself to be an accomplished sculptor with his original and easily recognizable designs. Works created by Douglas can be found throughout North America, the UK and Australia.
